06/07/2017 - Sometimes it’s just too hot outside to even imagine sipping espresso.

We venture into the art of preparing cold drinks made with coffee to add a hint of cool – perfect for the warmer weather.

Bitter black coffee mixed with tonic water may seem like an unlikely combination. Yet many trend-setting cities, from Tokyo to Berlin, have welcomed the unusual concoction to their menus.

Typically consisting of ice, one shot of espresso, and tonic water, the ‘espresso tonic’ combines sharp citrus flavours with your everyday pick-me-up brew.

The refreshing hybrid drink, which lies somewhere between an iced coffee and a classic G&T,  is set to be the hottest trend for coffee lovers in the UK this summer. As a growing number of hipsters are already sharing their ‘#espressotonic’ experiences on Instagram, it will be hard not to join in with the upcoming ‘coffee tonic’ obsession.
